About Allan and Cher Maybee, proprietors of Barn Anew

Allan and Cher retired from teaching in the spring of 2008, after 35 years in education. Allan received the Wyoming Social Studies Teacher of the year in 1990. Both Allan and Cher are noted historians, who have not only studied the trail systems across America, but have followed them on horseback, canoe, and jet ski. They have ridden 2000 miles across the entire length of the Oregon Trail on Arabian horses, and 1,200 miles following the Santa Fe Trail. Allan has also ridden 500 miles from Fort Laramie to For Bridger. Ask Allan about his other adventures. He recreated the trek of General William Ashley, fur trader, 3,000 miles in a canoe and on horseback from Utah to St. Louis. The Lewis and Clark trail was his latest adventure, when he set a 6,000 mile world record riding a jet ski from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean, via the Mississippi, Missouri, Snake, and Columbia Rivers.
